VADERLAND
De Dommel

Vaderland in 'Portrait of a river'

Our nature-inclusive farm can be found in Nederwetten on the Dommel river. Last autumn, the organisation Rivers are Life created a beautiful portrait of the Dommel. Vaderland plays a significant role in this documentary, alongside Waterschap de Dommel and Van Gogh National Park.

Through this documentary, we want people to become aware of how important water and the Dommel river are. It underscores that change and collaboration are essential if we want to achieve both economic ambitions and our ambitions for restoring nature and biodiversity.

Rivers of Life refers to Lianne as a 'beacon of hope'. What a compliment.

This gives us new energy to continue with our mission!

Development of wetland, or climate buffer

In this documentary, Lianne showcases her collaboration with Waterschap de Dommel, Brabants Landschap and the Province of North Brabant to create a wetland habitat. A 6.8-hectare plot is being transformed into a climate buffer. Instead of pumping water away, natural groundwater levels and flows will be allowed to recover. The area will be restored to its natural state.

We are establishing an area of woodland, a pond, nature-friendly riverbanks, and undergrowth. The landscape is being restored based on the structures that existed in Lianne's great-grandmother's day. This will create a naturally segmented landscape. Biodiversity in the area will be enhanced, bringing nature back into balance. Lianne believes that this restoration of the natural balance will have a positive influence on restoring human balance – something we need now more than ever.

Contribute to the restoration of nature

Our mission is to restore nature here, so that we can show people that it is possible, working in harmony with nature. By shopping and eating here you are already making a valuable contribution.

Would you like to make a donation? That’s also possible! Or become a ‘Friend of Vaderland'.
