About us

Our mission, our dream

Welcome to our gastronomic farm, where we are learning to work together with nature. This means constant movement, continuous adjustment, seeking balance, and optimising. We do this with respect and an awareness of what the earth asks for and provides. We have a nature-inclusive market garden where we grow all kinds of vegetables year-round. These are sold in our farm shop. You can also taste them by having us cook on location, or by visiting our beautiful restaurant on the farm.
 

Vaderland is all about making conscious choices, forging genuine connections, living in harmony with nature, and accepting that things don’t always have to be perfect. We are building a future-proof farm, step by step, and learning along the way.

 

At Vaderland, you can experience real life with all your senses and enjoy the richness of simplicity.

About us

We are ambitious. We give everything we have. To you. And back to nature. We believe that when you invest in the basics, both in terms of land and people, you will bring out the best. But we do it our way—slightly unconventional.

By working with nature, through trial and error, we are trying to find a new balance.

A healthy equilibrium where enjoyment plays a central role. But conscious enjoyment.

About Lianne

Designer. And farmer’s daughter. Sees opportunities and brings them to life. Connective and enthusiastic.

I am Lianne van Genugten. I was born 39 years ago in this beautiful place by the Dommel river, near the Oude Toren. When my parents stopped dairy farming and sold the cows five years ago, I realized that if I didn’t step up, the farm would come to an end.

 

Our family has been farming here for five generations, so I felt the call to take over and give the farm a sustainable future.

About Joep

Head-chef. And forager. Cooks pure and clean food, with everything there is. Progressive and generous.

Joep uses ingredients from our garden to create excitement on the plate. This can be something different every day, depending on what he sees and tastes in the garden.

 

We respect the products and allow them blend together beautifully. This creates an interesting interplay, both in terms of visuals and flavour, which determines how the dish is presented. That’s why it’s essential to plate with full attention and let your hands do the work.

Our team

We don’t do all this alone!

With a team in the restaurant, the garden/on the land, in the shop, behind the scenes and our volunteers we dedicate ourselves every day with heart and soul to our dream. We will introduce our team to you here soon!

History of the location

The place where we grow and process our vegetables can be found in Nederwetten, on the Dommel river. The farm belongs to Lianne's parents and has been in the family for four generations. It is a beautiful place that deserves to be seen and experienced - the perfect place to realize our dream.

 

We take care of the land, invest in the soil and in biodiversity. Vaderland is a place to reconnect with your nature. A place where you can experience real life with all your senses. From our market garden in Nederwetten, Joep and Lianne turn their home-grown vegetables into pure and honest dishes. We blend traditions of the past with today's insights. This creates a fertile place where the earth pplays a central role, and people are nourished and inspired.

 

Last autumn, a beautiful documentary about the Dommel was filmed. Lianne was also asked to contribute by talking about our relationship with the river. This beautiful portrait can be seem here from 7 May.
